The turning point in my career didn’t start with a dream job…it started with a desperate job hunt.

My husband’s job in the military moves us every 2–3 years.

Pre-COVID, remote work was a rarity, which meant I had to find a new job in a brand-new state each time we relocated. I’ll never forget the summer of 2021, when we got about four months’ notice to move to Nashville, TN. In order to buy a house, I needed proof of income. I had a brick-and-mortar job at a college in Saint Louis, which meant I had to find a new job in a place I had never been, fast. If you weren’t aware, Nashville is absolutely the cheapest place to buy a home, as well.

Queue the hours spent hunting for a role that would pay enough.

Queue the handful of interviews that left me heartbroken.

Bait and switch. Insulting salary offers. Being ghosted altogether.

Through grit and eventual luck, I landed a role at a college career center. That kicked off my official chapter in helping others navigate the job search, but it was my own brutal job-hunting experience that shaped the way I approach this work. I know how overwhelming and defeating the process can feel, and that’s exactly why I care so much about helping people get the yes.

Fast forward to now: I have over four years of professional experience as a Career Transition and Development Specialist. With a master’s in adult education, I’m able to deliver information in a way that’s easy to understand and practical to apply. I’ve helped hundreds of people from all different backgrounds find employment with just a few simple tweaks to their approach.

There’s no sales pitch coming. After a few years of sharing job search advice on LinkedIn, I wanted a space where I could go deeper and share the kind of advice I wish I had when I was job hunting: free, straightforward, and actually useful. This blog is a place to break things down, share practical tips, and talk honestly about how to navigate the job search with more confidence and less overwhelm.

I’ll share insights on every step of the job search, from your cover letter to your offer letter, and everything in between.

Want to share a story or suggest a post topic? I’m all ears: send me an email.

Hello, and welcome.
